Route and credentials
The company decides which Matten endpoint and credential path an approved AI caller may use.
For enterprise AI platform and security leaders
Matten gives approved AI callers a company-controlled path into critical systems. Scope what each caller can reach, apply route policy before execution, revoke access when needed, and keep the action, result, and caller-supplied business reason together for investigation and recovery.
The controlled path
From scoped access to recovery context

The production boundary
Useful AI workflows often stop when they need production write access. A direct tool path can give the caller more authority than the workflow needs and leave the company without one place to scope, expire, or revoke that path.
Broad service-account credentials make the trust decision larger. If an AI-made change later goes wrong, operators can be left reconstructing the caller, action, outcome, and business reason across application logs and private AI sessions.
Best fit: regulated and high-consequence organizations with 500–4,999 employees, a scaling AI program, and consequential actions spanning multiple AI clients or business systems—where a named platform, security, or operations owner needs a controlled production path and a usable record across related actions.
Control plus decision context
The governed route applies company-owned caller and tool policy. The business reason supplied by an AI or represented user stays connected to the action, can support candidate precedent, and can guide later review. Authorized company owners decide what to approve, and policy comparison is opt-in.
Illustrative enterprise example
Without Matten
The “why” stays in the chat or AI workflow—not with the action.
With Matten
Missing context appears before action.
Without Matten
Logs hold fragments.
With Matten
The stated reason stays linked to the attempt, response, observed effect, and unknowns.
Without Matten
Teams rebuild judgment by hand.
With Matten
Matten proposes a candidate; authorized company owners approve, edit, or reject it.
Without Matten
Every case remains an island.
With Matten
An approved, scoped precedent can become shared company memory.
Without Matten
Start over—or repeat the gap.
With Matten
Precedent guides review; company policy still decides.
AI or represented user supplies the business reason → Matten requires, attributes, binds, and preserves it → Matten can propose a candidate → authorized company owners decide → company policy and upstream authorization decide whether an action may proceed. Matten does not collect chain of thought, certify truth, or replace authorization. Precedent comparison or enforcement requires company opt-in.
Illustrative workforce flow: a caller-supplied reason stays with the dehire record, Matten can propose a candidate precedent, authorized HR and IT owners decide, and company policy may flag missing billing access on a later request.
The company boundary
The enterprise is the buyer and owner. AI providers can call the route and support the integration. They do not own the company’s credentials, policy, revocation boundary, or history.
01
The company decides which Matten endpoint and credential path an approved AI caller may use.
02
The company sets the allowed sources, profiles, tools, elevation, quota, expiry, and revocation rules.
03
Caller, policy, action, result, observed effect, and business reason stay connected under company-defined data rules.
A clear role boundary
This is business context, not model mind-reading. The AI or represented user supplies the reason. Matten’s role is to make that reason required on the governed path, keep its source clear, and preserve it with the action record.

Not Matten’s role
Where this matters
The more an action matters, the less your company should have to reconstruct its reason from logs, chats, and human memory.
01
Move an admitted action through a governed path when a direct tool connection creates too much uncontrolled authority.
02
Keep reusable system credentials behind company-owned caller, tool, elevation, quota, expiry, and revocation rules.
03
Give operators a connected caller, action, result, observed effect, and business reason when they investigate a change.
For AI and agent providers
See how your AI can supply the business reason and use a path the customer controls—without making Matten the agent or asking you to send the full conversation.
Common questions
The acting AI client—or the user it represents—supplies it. Matten requires the reason, attributes it to the caller, connects it to the action, and preserves it. Matten does not create the explanation itself.
No. Matten does not need the full AI conversation, private chain of thought, or a transcript. It uses a bounded business-facing reason supplied by the AI or user.
No. The record is an attributed statement from the caller or user. Matten can keep that statement and its evidence status connected to what happened, but it does not certify truth.
No. A saved reason only connects context to an action. Matten’s access controls and the business system’s own permissions still decide whether the action may be attempted.
No. Your identity provider, application policy, and system-of-record permissions keep the authority they already own. Matten governs its route and tools; it does not replace upstream business authorization.
The enterprise owns the route, credential policy, approved callers, tool scope, and the visibility, retention, correction, deletion, and export rules for its Judgment Ledger.
If the governed path cannot apply company policy and preserve the record, the important action stops instead of bypassing controls.
No. Matten preserves the governed caller, request, native response, observed effect, and business reason as a clearer starting point for investigation. Operators and native business systems still own diagnosis, remediation, and rollback.
No compliance outcome is promised. A company-owned action record may help with review and governance, but regulatory duties and results depend on the company, system, use case, and applicable law.
